Highlights of the week
MON, 29 SEP: Feast Day of Dedication of St. Michael Archangel celebrating the consecration by Pope Boniface II in 530 at Rome of the church on the Salerian Way dedicated to his honor. The name of St. Michael is included in the Confiteor after the BVM. He is protector of the Catholic Church. TUES, 30 SEP: St. Jerome. One of the great Saints of the Church, St. Jerome dedicated himself to translation of the Holy Bible which is the official version used by the Church, known as the Vulgate Edition. The Saint is laid to rest at St. Mary Major in Rome having passed away in approximately 419 or 420. WED, 1 OCT: Feast of St. Remigius, Bishop of Rheims, France, who baptized King Clovis which event led to the conversion of the Frankish nation. He died in 533. THUR, 02 ОСT: Commemoration of the Holy Guardian Angels. FRI, 3 OCT: Commemoration of St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus. St. Therese made the promise to pass her time in Heaven doing good on earth. She is Patroness of Missions. Today, especially, pray for her intercession to bring forth vocations to the sanctified life. SAT: Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. In 1209 St. Francis established a rule for the Franciscan Order as well as the Poor Clare Sisters. He is called the Seraphic Saint for his love of God. In Archdiocese of San Francisco the Feast is of the I Class.
